DIANE SMITH was born in the United States. She retired from child welfare and writes about the homeless, immigrants, the poor, healthcare; those who have little visibility or power in society. She has placed and published in international competition a few times with the Surrey International Writers Conference associated with  Simon Fraser University, and the Ottawa Valley Writers’ Guild, The Binnacle at the University of Maine, Machias. She has been honored with fellowships and financial support from the William Wisdom/William Faulkner Society as a finalist in 2005, The Summer Learning Institute through The Walrus, and Fish Publishing, Ireland as a finalist for her novel Balancing Against the Wind. AJAY PRASANNAN, Associate Editor of Photography and Art,  was born and raised in the UK, where he currently works as a web designer and all-round IT troubleshooter.
